If I could only choose one range in Colorado to spend the rest of my time in, it would be the Sawatch Range. It was the first area I visited in Colorado and the one I’ve been back to the most since moving to this state.
There is so much to love about this area: the groves of aspens, the abundance of back country campsites, pristine alpine lakes, and world class whitewater rafting to name a few. But, to me, the most alluring feature of this range are the massive peaks that rise out of the Arkansas River Valley. The Sawatch is home to 15 of the 58 peaks in Colorado that stand above 14,000 feet. Being surrounded by these gentle giants manifests a humbling, yet rejuvenating feeling unmatched by any other.
No matter which season you find yourself in this range, adventure awaits around every corner and you’re sure to fall in love.
